Society's Art
Big gestures of colour,
blocks and strokes and grains and ridges
Smooth edged canvas
and a sculpture
like Dali's upside down,
civilisation's the wrong way around,
suspended by ropes
Suits and dresses,
and people who do not apologise
or speak truth
Hundreds of Glasses of wine
and expensive cologne
I am in a corduroy jacket
and converse with fifteen years old shoelaces
I don't paint these faces

She dressed like vintage records
and spoke like aged whiskey
when I took her home
and painted the ceiling with her voice.
